Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
